Tom Herrington is a British author obsessed with blending dark comedy with twisty thrillers, set against the brooding landscapes of weirdly wild corners of rural Britain and France. His debut novel, Black Toad, is an example of what he calls Bumpkin Noir — Darker than Cosy Crime, yet funnier than Nordic Noir, and more twisted than either. Born with a love for storytelling and a fascination with the eerie beauty of paths less trodden, he weaves tales where small-town secrets curdle into deadly revenge, and the lines between justice and madness blur. Now living in Battle, East Sussex, when not writing, he’s usually wandering woodland paths with Filo the Labrador, plotting fictional crimes, creating or stealing the absurd and banal characters who dwell amongst us, or bribing ravens with biltong. If you loved Slough House, Jamaica Inn, Tarantino, The Killing, or Hot Fuzz with a darker edge, you'll want to follow his work.
